Immersive Arts has recently published its first report, ‘Early days of the immersive exhibition network’. Gathering perspectives from a range of experts to explore the challenges and opportunities for exhibiting and distributing immersive artworks in the UK.
This report offers a wide-angle view of the immersive arts sector. Sections that may be more relevant to Broader Screen Content programmers are: ‘StoryTrails case study’ on P22-23, ‘Audiences’ on P26-27, and ‘What can be done now - support for cultural venues’ on P40-41.
'What we’ve seen is that it’s always a very different audience to the one that that cinema knows. Even though it’s smaller [audiences] they are completely different people. You’re not transferring your traditional cinema goer into a VR experience; you’re bringing in new people into the space' — Ben Luxford Director of UK Audiences, British Film Institute (BFI)
