The UK’s only independent cinema conference, This Way Up, has released the video and photographs from its 2022 edition at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA). The footage has been released alongside captioned videos of the conference’s sessions and speakers.
The hybrid conference was held at DCA and online from 30 November to 1 December. Over 180 in-person delegates attended the event, with over 50 delegates joining online.
Delivered by BFI FAN, This Way Up brings the exhibition sector together to share new ideas, celebrate work and collectively image the future of cinema-going for audiences around the UK.
The 2022 conference featured discussions led by industry experts, interactive sessions, film screenings, and expanded reality experiences, plus a special St. Andrew's Day networking event at V&A Dundee.
Highlights included a discussion between BFI’s Head of UK Audiences, Ben Luxford, and CEO of Glasgow Film, Allison Gardner; a screening of EIFF Audience Award winner, Winners, plus a Q&A with the filmmakers; VR and AR experiences courtesy of StoryTrails; Publikum CEO Neils Alberg on AI-powered audience modelling and a genre-programming panel discussion.
