Birmingham has a significant Muslim community and in association with Birmingham Central Mosque, Victoria Park Productions wanted to showcase Muslim diversity and integration, headlined by the new documentary THE BIG FAST which was filmed over 30 days in 2017 capturing a diverse range of Muslims fasting within the Midlands, and the short ADAM WHY, a new thought provoking short about Muslim identity and racism.

The event is an exciting and innovative form of film exhibition that offered a compelling reason for audiences to come together and watch film as a community. Targeting a group that would not otherwise have the means or other reasons to attend such an event. It targeted some of the most deprived and diverse areas in the city welcoming all to engage in the Muslim film showcase in general. The area of Highgate, a stones throw away from the Birmingham MAC has a large Muslim population with high unemployment and literacy rate.
