Are you a writer or director curious about how storytelling can evolve beyond the screen? Join award-winning immersive creator Alex Rühl for a two-day introduction to the world of immersive storytelling.
Designed especially for beginners who’ve never made an immersive project before, this hands-on lab will give you the tools, language, and creative confidence to explore new narrative possibilities in virtual, interactive, and immersive media.
Over two days, you’ll:
-
Experience a range of immersive projects and explore the spectrum from passive to interactive storytelling
-
Learn what makes immersive stories work (and what doesn’t)
-
Gain insight into audience engagement and impact from industry professionals
-
Get practical advice on writing and directing for immersive media, including real-world examples from leading projects
We’re looking for 10 participants who are excited to experiment, learn, and take their first steps into immersive storytelling. Whether you come from film, theatre, gaming, or another creative medium, this is your chance to expand your storytelling toolkit into XR and connect with others on the same journey.
When is it?
The programme will take place in person in Nottingham at Broadway Cinema on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January. All participants must be available for both days.
The programme is completely free to attend, and travel and accommodation will be provided for successful applicants.
Who is it for?
This opportunity is open to writers and directors with experience working in traditional formats and an interest in developing skills to take steps toward creating work in XR/VR spaces. We don't expect you to have experience working with immersive filmmaking, as this will give you a solid introduction to the medium.
- You must be based in the Midlands and provide your postcode at the point of application.
- You must be over 18 years of age and not in full-time education.
