Singing and dancing its way into cinemas and venues across the UK, BFI Musicals! will celebrate the joyful, emotional, shared experience of watching film musicals; with the biggest stars, the most iconic scenes and the best-loved song and dance numbers back on the big screen, including re-releases of classic musicals including Singin’ in the Rain (1952).
To mark this special occasion and get the whole of the UK tapping their feet and singing their hearts out, the BFI Film Audience Network are organising flash mobs in three major UK cities. That’s where YOU come in! To make an impact we want as many people as possible to get involved, learn the dance and play a part in an all-singing-all-dancing national moment.
Why get involved?
Film musicals represent some of the best-loved cinematic treasures, standing the test of time and and seeping their way into national consciousness. Part of the fabric of childhood, musicals are loved by people of all ages, genders, heritages, and homelands. As such they offer a moment of unity and equality, camaraderie and downright fun!
The Singin’ in the Rain flash mob is a chance to dance and sing alongside other people in your city - your neighbours, friends, co-workers, and complete strangers - and be a part of a collective and joyful experience in your hometown, and national moment in the UK.
How to get involved
All you need to do to get involved is to learn the dance and turn up on the allocated date and time! Watch our instructional video below to learn the moves, then turn up to your closest flash mob. Keep an eye on your city’s Facebook event page for each city for updates.
