We're delighted to support six new projects in the Midlands with a total of £34,832, strengthening the fabric of our region's independent exhibition sector.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply. The fund was highly competitive and oversubscribed, demonstrating the passion and ambition of film exhibitors across the Midlands.

Supported by National Lottery funding, the BFI FAN Film Exhibition Fund helps cinemas, arts centres, festivals and community groups deliver more films to more people in more places across the Midlands.

National Treasure Celia Imrie surprises Warwick Arts Centre with £10,000 National Lottery funding from our Film Exhibition Fund.

This year's awards are also being celebrated nationally through the National Lottery Promotions Unit's Because of You campaign, which spotlights the people and projects making a real difference in their communities.

As part of the campaign, National Treasure Celia Imrie made a surprise visit to Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry to reveal that the venue had received £10,000 from our Film Exhibition Fund.

Joining ambassador-in-chief Claudia Winkleman, who has been travelling the UK to champion stories made possible by National Lottery funding, Celia helped shine a light on the impact of this support within the Midlands.

Warwick Arts Centre will use the funding to deliver Handle with Care, an uplifting themed cinema season exploring how we care for ourselves and each other. The programme unfolds across three strands:

  • Cosy Classics - Beloved films centred on cinematic self-care, inviting audiences to bring blankets, enjoy hot drinks and take part in conversation
  • Care on Screen - contemporary films that explore caregiving roles across cultures
  • Care Behind the Scenes - screenings and workshops focusing on ethical filmmaking, consent, and community care

Take a look at the full list of successful applicants below, including Warwick Arts Centre. We've been genuinely impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm shown this year.
