As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic we have a large and expanding slate of BFI NETWORK short films which are currently on hold until it is safe and responsible for short film production to recommence. As a small team of dedicated Talent Execs, we want to ensure we have the time and resource to fully support all awarded short film teams, so therefore we have taken the decision to temporarily pause applications to the BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund in England until production has progressed with our current slate.
Applications to BFI NETWORK in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will remain unaffected (although, please note they each run an annual round of applications, and are currently closed).
Over the next few months we will be working closely with our funded teams to ensure they can safely and practically implement the guidance for COVID safety on set, helping them to apply the measures.
This pause in no way impacts our usual roster of professional development opportunities online, which will continue to run, including our new webinar series BFI NETWORK Live.
The Early Development Fund in England will remain open as normal, and our partners in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales continue to offer NETWORK provision too.
The BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund in England will close at 12 noon on Monday 6 July, if you have an application in progress please be sure to download and save any materials that you are working on but are not yet ready to formally submit, as it won’t be possible to retrieve any draft content when we re-open the fund.
