Join us from 18:30 - 19:45 on Monday 12 August, for a conversation led by award-winning, BFI NETWORK-supported Producer Hollie Bryan. Hollie will explore her journey into filmmaking, looking specifically at the role of the Producer and what the day-to-day life of a producer looks like. We will also explore the skills and experience needed for this role and the different entry points into the industry for aspiring film producers.

BFI Film Academy Labs are all about helping 16- to 25-year-olds break into the screen industries. These monthly practical sessions are led by industry professionals, with a focus on explaining the specifics of working in film and television, and developing your skills to become the best screen creative you can be.

The Labs are programmed across three strands: Business of Film, Career Ladder and Storytelling.

About Hollie Bryan

Hollie’s debut feature as producer, ‘The Ceremony’ which was part of the work in progress showcase at BFI London Film Festival in 2023 is due for release later this year. Before that she was Associate Producer on Ken Loach’s 'The Old Oak' with Rebecca O'Brien at Sixteen Films which played in competition at Cannes 2023.

Hollie was producer on the award winning short documentary 'Hanging On', directed by Alfie Barker, funded by BFI Doc Society with premieres at Sheffield Doc Fest & TIFF in 2021 later being longlisted for a BIFA and shortlisted for a Grierson award. Her most recent short film 'Predators' directed by Jack King premiered at BFI London Film Festival in 2023 and was nominated for a Critics Circle Award this year.Among the features in development 'Sunburn' with Jack King was selected for EIFF Talent Lab Connects in 2022 and High Risk with Alfie Barker was developed through Less Is More 2023 and the TIFF Filmmaker Lab. She was recently one of the awardees of the Miles Ketley Memorial Fund from the ICO.
